‘Shore Good Eats’…home-style cooking on the Eastern Shore
Here on Delmarva, people take their eating seriously. Homes throughout the area are always proud to serve real ‘shore style’, good food. Creating special indigenous recipes and passing them down through generations has become a hallmark of the true Eastern Shore kitchen. From bountiful farm fields, the nearby ocean, bays and forests, the ingredients are carefully gathered. For centuries these fresh, local ‘makings’ have become the centerpiece of Delmarva’s famed dishes.
Many of these local creations are linked with seasonal celebrations and events. With the advent of fall’s cooler weather and the harvest at hand, there seems to be an almost endless calendar of local festivals and events including Church bazaars – most all of them featuring our shore’s bounty. It is our intent to share with our reader some of these tried and true, near historic recipes – those ‘shore good eats’. We’ll be adding these delectable recipes in the right side column, ‘Categories’ under ‘OC MD Shore Good Eats‘.
